HRT’S CORE VALUES💎

Automation & Efficiency

We are disciples of automation and efficiency, trading millions of times a day in markets around the globe. At its core, HRT is a small tech company with a big footprint.

Code of Ethics

Our internal code of ethics far exceeds the expectations of the regulatory environment in which we operate. We are conscientious market participants advocating for fair and transparent markets for everyone. This philosophy influences every aspect of our research.

Make It Better

Both as individuals and as a company we are tenacious. We are insatiable innovators looking to improve every aspect of our business. We don’t settle until we make it better.

Collaboration

Collaboration sets HRT apart within our industry. We count among us many brilliant minds, but we’ve learned that the best ideas are born in a shared research and development environment.

Togetherness

HRT is a community of friends and colleagues. Whether we are sharing a meal or competing over a game of ping pong, HRT embraces a culture of togetherness that extends far beyond the walls of our office.

DEIB

Our culture is a reflection of the individuals, across race, gender identity and expression, age, religion and worship practices, education status, nationality, and identity, who bring their varied perspectives to work.

THE IMPORTANCE OF A DIVERSE WORKPLACE🌈👋🏾🖖🏻

Diversity encompasses the myriad ways in which we differ from one another. At HRT, we celebrate diversity in all its forms and strive to have diverse representation at all levels of the firm.

We believe that a diverse environment makes HRT’s work better. We are proud to support four Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) celebrating People of Color, Women, Asian and Pacific Islanders, and LGBTQ+ employees. ERGs give underrepresented employees and our allies a safe space to share experiences, build networks of support, establish community, and advocate for company-wide policy change.

We promote a culture of learning and we strive to infuse diversity elements into all of our curriculum including outside speakers, internal training, and manager cohorts.

Diversity is something our industry lacks in general, and we want to be a part of changing that narrative. This year, we hosted our inaugural Women in Tech Trading Internship and BIPOC Tech Summit. Diverse perspectives and backgrounds are vital to making our work continuously impactful and innovative.

PROMOTING EQUITY & INCLUSION THROUGH HRT AND PARTNER ORGS🤝

Equity addresses historic and systemic disparities in access to opportunity in order to create a work environment that is accessible, safe, and comfortable for all.

We continuously evaluate our practices and policies to eliminate bias and ensure we are creating equitable processes.

Promoting equity in tech begins far before a candidate interacts with our hiring pipeline. Addressing barriers to accessibility for Black and brown youth will help us cultivate equity not just in our own workplace, but in the industry as a whole. HRT is proud to partner with a variety of organizations that advocate for technical literacy in underrepresented communities. We currently support organizations like ID Tech, Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM), and AllStarCode in an effort to expand and promote STEM access to underrepresented students.

Inclusivity means giving everyone a voice in the company conversation, distributing decision-making authority, increasing transparency, and ensuring our employees feel valued and empowered.

Inclusivity is the building block of a healthy, vibrant workforce because it allows people to bring their full selves to work every day and contribute to their team. True inclusivity goes beyond recognizing difference; we strive to celebrate and uplift the wide variety of communities at HRT — our ultimate goal is for anyone from any background to feel like they have a home here. This is reflected in a wide variety of initiatives, ranging from ERGs to prioritizing accessibility for our neurodiverse and differently-abled populations, to providing gender-affirming healthcare for our trans employees, and generous family leave policies. We recognize that there are still places to improve, and our core value to ‘make it better’ moves our culture forward, constantly driving us to evaluate how we can make this a safer and more inclusive space for every HRTer.

WE OFFER RESOURCES & SUPPORT TO ALL TEAM MEMBERS🤲🏿📚

Employees feel safe when they feel like they belong. We measure employee sentiment of belonging through engagement surveys.

Our value of “togetherness” creates many opportunities for HRTers to connect – over a meal or team outing – and develop a sense of belonging. Our many playful slack channels also give HRTers opportunities to establish a feeling of belonging over shared interests (e.g. #dogs, #curlclub, #runners, #kicks).

Our People Partner, Employee Relations, and Learning & Development teams are dedicated resources for our employees, offering a range of services from career growth advice and employee training to resolving employee concerns. These teams ensure HRT’s values aren’t just words on this website, but are being translated into the lived experience for all HRTers.

As part of making sure that HRT is a safe and inclusive workplace, we also make sure that HRTers know to whom and how to report any incidents or behaviors that make them feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or unwelcome. We are committed to promptly reviewing and effectively resolving any employee complaints of behaviors that do not align with our values. HRT does not tolerate any form of harassment, discrimination, or retaliation.

ACTION & PROGRESS FROM OUR LEADERSHIP✍️

Jason Carroll, Prashant Lal, and Oaz Nir are active managing partners at HRT, and are closely involved in the day-to-day operations of the firm. As leaders, they provide support and guidance to HRTers as the company grows, and new generations of talent take on more responsibility, and they are deeply committed to the employee experience on a day-to-day basis.

Employee health and wellbeing is a top priority as leadership evaluates policies and benefit offerings. A few notable examples include:

  • An annual company-wide trip for employees and their families
  • Annual paid personal days (in addition to vacation days and holidays)
  • HRT Strong – an annual wellness initiative to motivate each other to be active and healthy
  • Fully-covered virtual counseling

Executive support is foundational to our ERGs; each group has an Executive Sponsor from our leadership team who advocates for the ERG on a high level, provides mentorship to leads and members, and brings ERG perspectives to broader conversations regarding HRT’s goals and policies.

From establishing relationships with HBCUs and organizations in our community including ID Tech, BEAM, AllStarCode, and Latinas in Tech, to hosting tech summits for the BIPOC and Women in Tech communities, we are deeply committed to creating an environment for the tech community that is welcoming to all.

We are also committed to creating a work environment in which our underrepresented employees feel like they belong and can thrive.
