WHAT DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION MEANS AT SENTRY ✨

Sentry believes that diverse companies and teams are smarter and enrich the organization in meaningful ways.

To that end, we also recognize that, as humans, our brains are wired for biases. We are intentional about welcoming diversity and tackling those biases through shared learnings on the experiences of historically excluded and underrepresented groups through various mediums such as an allies channel in slack, and internal book clubs, while highlighting diversity through cultural and historical celebrations.

We regularly review our hiring practices, supplementing them with training for diversity sourcing and unconscious biases to support our commitment to fostering a diverse workplace.

Our company defines equity as the guarantee of fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement. Throughout history, many underrepresented and minority populations have not been given equal opportunity, and have been historically excluded. We focus on consciously creating an equitable workplace through:

Clear and transparent compensation, performance evaluation, and promotions philosophy and processes, where all changes are vetted and approved at a committee-level.

Using Growth Profiles and salary bands to establish fair compensation practices.

Giving every employee an option grant as part of their employment, alongside education on what this means. We believe that every employee, regardless of position or level, should have the opportunity to benefit from the company’s collective successes.

We do this through providing spaces where employees can bring their whole selves to work and share this with others (employee-led Trivia Nights, Yoga Sessions. Gaming Groups, many many Slack channels to entertain your current hobbies and ignite new ones), and we do our best to create company events that provide opportunities for every kind of employee to be engaged and involved.

We’ve also prioritized flexibility in work schedules to make sure work and personal life find an equilibrium, especially when thinking about our caretaker employees. By allowing some control to be passed down at the team-level ensures managers are empowered to work directly with their teams to ensure inclusivity of different employee needs.

SAFETY & FEEDBACK IN OUR SPACE 🛡

Being intentional about creating a psychologically safe environment begins with a shared understanding. We have established a Code of Conduct for our people that is designed to encourage and foster respect and inclusion within the company, specify behaviors that are both acceptable and expected from employees, as well as outline unacceptable behaviors. We’ve also clearly outlined the process our employees can report on violations of the Code, along with consequences for such violations.

And we don’t know how we’re doing unless we hear from our employees. Getting direct feedback from our folks continues to keep us accountable. Through gathering data from our regular pulse surveys, lending insight to the evolving company culture and hot spots that need attention.

We also partner with self-identifying Employee Resource Groups to continue to support underrepresented groups and provide safe spaces for folks who want it.
