At MainStreet we are working on investing in DEI from the start. We are still a very new company & focused on weaving diversity, equity and inclusion in everything that we do! We have a standardized and structured interview process to ensure we’re evaluating candidates objectively based on their performance. All interviewers are required to take unconscious bias training prior to participating in an interview and we are rolling out company-wide DEI training next month. As a remote-first company, our connection points need to be intentional, otherwise employees can easily become “a work resource” and not show their full person. We value hearing the diverse perspectives that our employees have and encourage questions and conversation in whatever way feels comfortable to them. Employees can contribute to slack channels, ask anonymous questions in our all hands meeting or speak up live when they have something on their mind.
MainStreet’s leadership team understands that employees are the heart in everything we do! We only exist because of our hard working employees. We talk openly, as a company, about how working at a startup is a lot of work but that life outside of work is very important to our employee's physical and mental health.
