SPORTS 🤝 TECHNOLOGY 🤝 ECOMMERCE 🤝

We are a company of scale, with over 850 stores, five distribution centers, 1000s of brands--including 30 of our own in-house vertical brands—and hundreds of thousands of skews. Dicks.com is the 29th-largest ecomm platform in the US, and we serve over 150 million athletes. Every day, we are tackling the challenges of scaling our business and serving up new experiences for our athletes, and as a Technology teammate, you will be instrumental in meeting those challenges.

DSG Technology supports the core business model of DICK’s Sporting Goods while also disrupting the retail market through innovation. We are building experiences through tech to instruct, fit and equip our athletes to better their best. We’re also building modern ways of working through a lean product model, utilizing public cloud, and building leading technology. We’re building a culture of collaboration and innovation, working as one team and investing in our people through career development, constant opportunity, prioritization and diversity.

OUR VALUES 🏆

We are the athletes, the coaches, the energy in the stands, and the fans that fill them. The referees that call the games and the neighbor that can’t wait until the next one. The sports enthusiasts that wake up and strive to reach our personal best.

What we bring to the game is what we believe will change it. By upholding the values that strengthen our performance, fosters collaboration, and ignites our desire to win, we actively demonstrate the impact and change we inspire when we work as one.

⚾️ PASSIONATE: We live for our sport, our team, and our community.
🏈 COMMITTED: We believe in relentless improvement.
🏀 SKILLED: We are focused and precise.
⚽️ DRIVEN: We play to win.

HOW WE CHAMPION DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION 🎉

At DICK’S we practice diversity as both seen and unseen differences. It helps us to celebrate and consider the complexity of each individual and allow those differences to influence our experiences, our culture, and our work. Every winning team is made up of differences and as a sports company, we take our inspiration from some of the best. Different backgrounds, skills, and abilities help us to build winning teams to be the best sports company in the world. Whether it is the celebration of important moments across the year or leaning into appreciating the complexity of our uniqueness, we work to integrate diversity into our business every day.

Equity is the practice of leveling the playing field, so every person gets what they need to succeed. It is action. It is commitment, and a relentless pursuit of providing access to all. Our practice of equity is based in our Impact Teams – we have 20 teams across the enterprise organized under 5 strategic pillars. Educate & Inspire, Hire & Develop, Power of our Business, Civic Action and Insights & Analysis. These teams ensure we are activating equity and making impact in every corner of our business – from our products and in store experiences, to the experiences within the workplace – we are actively looking for inequity, improvement and a level playing field for everyone.

Inclusion at DICK’S is the balance between uniqueness and belonging. It is the experience of having your uniqueness’s considered and celebrated while feeling part of a something bigger than you. This active practice of balancing these two important components, helps each individual and leader invite inclusion into their experience at DICK’S.

A wonderful example of our commitment to inclusion was our “Bringing inclusion to Life” learning experience that was created and launched in 2020. At launch we brought our entire organization across the country through a shared experience to practice inclusion, learn the skills needed, and set the expectation for our interactions with each other and our communities. We have continued this experience through onboarding and are excited to see how this experience evolves as we mature our work in Inclusion.

EMPLOYEE HAPPINESS, SAFETY & HEALTH AT DICK'S 💚

We have a variety of programming, training and accountability measures that help us do our best in creating safe spaces for every teammate at DICK’S. We hold Dialogue Circles every week to create opportunities for safe spaces and hard conversations across our teammate populations. We train on empathy, and multiple core principals of inclusion to ensure we have shared language and normalizing the experiences across differences. We ensure we are holding ourselves and our leaders accountable through a data driven approach that allows us to regularly check in with our people.

We believe that change needs to begin with us – creating welcoming and inviting spaces where teammates of all backgrounds can pursue a tech career at DICK’S. We want to invite teammates to make a direct impact on our business and our culture with the hope and desire that our collective efforts will impact the tech industry overall.

Across multiple communities we are working with various coding bootcamps that help to create new paths to tech careers. Through these partnerships we believe we support the people creating real change while we hold ourselves accountable to ensuring that talent has a home and warm welcome at DICK’S.

INTERVIEW PROCESS👩🏾‍💻

For our Software Engineering roles:

Step one: Application Review
Application through our DSG Careers page is reviewed by the recruiter. If the basic qualifications of the role are met your resume will be shared with our current hiring teams. If they are interested in your background for their specific opening we will proceed.

Step two: Coding Assessment
Codility assessment is sent to the candidate from the recruiter. Our Codility assessment is a code challenge that helps us to get a better sense of your technical skills. The assessment sent will be based off of your tech stack (for example, Java or .NET). Once you complete the assessment your results are sent to the hiring team who is interested in your background.

Step three: Technical Interview
If the hiring team is interested we will proceed with scheduling a technical interview. This is usually between 30-60 minutes in length. It will often include the Engineering Manager and/or Engineers from the team will be joining.

Step four: Panel Interviews
You will be scheduled for panel interviews. This is typically 3-5 different interview panels. The Interviewers will range from management (Engineering Manager/Director of Engineering), other Engineers on the team you’re joining, and other Product leaders depending on the Product team this role is supporting. The interviews will vary between 30-60 minutes. These will be a combination of technical and cultural interview assessments.

Step five: Offer ✨
Our interviewers will get together and discuss all candidates interviewed to determine who they would like to extend an offer to. The recruiter will reach out to you to extend the news.
