DO has a a D&I committee which is a cross-functional group of DO employees who are passionate about D&I best practices and aim to support DigitalOcean in achieving its goals.

One pillar of this committee is the Recruiting and Onboarding pillar which ensures that DigitalOcean is recruiting from a diverse talent pool and is bringing in candidates from underserved communities.

The Metrics and Reporting pillar of DO's D&I committee measures and reports on progress against committee initiatives internally and externally in order to ensure that the company is building an equitable workplace. Also, the Development and Mentorship pillar of DO's D&I committee provides ongoing education and development opportunities to raise awareness of D&I in the workplace, cultivate an inclusive environment, and build a culture of allyship.

Our leadership team is committed to providing a safe and happy work environment for all employees. This can range from giving all employees a WFH stipend during the pandemic to ensure everyone was comfortable working from home, to hosting quarterly "Ask Us Anything" events where employees can pose any and all questions to the team. Our leadership team believes in transparency and is constantly working on ensuring that employees are proud to work at DO.

We have a no tolerance policy for hate speech both from our employees and for those using our systems. Internally, we have some private safe space channels for D&I, for women and people who identify as nonbinary, and public channels for allies of these groups. Additionally, in June we launched our first four ERGs, also known as affinity groups. ERGs are employee identity or experience based groups designed to help build a sense of community and belonging for employees. DO's ERGs are employee-led, voluntary groups that support professional development, strengthen our business and advance our commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace. These ERGs are open to all employees who identify with the group’s mission or identity as well as allies.
