USING DATA-DRIVEN AI TO HELP BUSINESSES MAKE BETTER SPENDING DECISIONS💰

Now more than ever, businesses recognize the need to make more informed spend decisions and the importance of Business Spend Management (BSM). Coupa empowers organizations around the world - from the Fortune 1000 to the world’s fastest-growing organizations – with the visibility and control to make smarter spend decisions across supply chain, procurement, and finance.

With over $3 trillion of cumulative spend flowing through its BSM platform, Coupa uniquely offers Community.ai, a next-gen community that combines the power of data-driven AI and human-to-human connections to help businesses maximize the value of every dollar spent.

OUR COMMUNITY VALUES 💙

Coupa’s culture plays a critical role in guiding how we identify, develop and deploy human capital resources. We have built our culture around three principles: Ensure Customer Success, Focus on Results, Strive for Excellence. We believe these principles set clear expectations for those who join our community; help ensure our employees are working towards the same goals; and guide how we treat one another, our customers, and the communities we serve.

We also are strong believers that everyone that comes to Coupa should act as the “CEO” of their function and this mindset is something we share with new hires when they join. With a philosophy like this, we see Coupa as having nearly 3,000 CEOs. Ultimately, that helps drive a culture of accountability and a focus on results. Employees are empowered to take action and drive change through authentic and honest engagements with their peers and unnecessary process does not stand in the way of progress.

OUR DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION PRACTICES🌈

We know that companies thrive when they are powered by a diversity of people and culture, and people thrive when they’re treated with dignity, equity, and respect. We care about our employees and their success.

We have Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to support our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion practices and initiatives. Our aim is to ensure that our employees feel a strong sense of belonging and are comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work every day, and our ERGs help support that. These groups consist of volunteer Coupa employees who provide personal and professional support to our diverse communities, beyond the scope of their core job duties.

HOW WE MAINTAIN A SAFE SPACE😌

We maintain a safe space through our four Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).

Coupa Engage: Engage strives to uplift the underrepresented community. This group provides a personal and professional platform to support colleagues of color to network and form closer relationships with allies within the company. This group sets its principles on three major pillars: leadership development, inclusion and equity, and community enrichment. Throughout the year, Coupa Engage has hosted several “Pulse” sessions, which have been an open forum to allow employees to discuss their fears and experiences related to race. These sessions let coworkers openly talk about the impact of racism, stereotypes and discrimination, and often lead to additional discussions outside of work.

Coupa Empower: Empower serves as a hub for women to learn and grow in their careers and is both internal and external facing. Empower's mission is to break down barriers to women’s success by creating a community of individuals and organizations working together to unleash the impact of women in business.

Coupa Illuminate: An LGBTQIA+ alliance group supports our community by inspiring connection, inclusiveness, and diversity. We respect gender fluidity and non-traditional family units, advocate for equality and fairness, and foster opportunities for stewardship and growth in our local communities. Illuminate has three main pillars: Engagement; Diversity in Business Spend Management (BSM); and Community. Illuminate is both an ERG, as well as a Business Resource Group (BRG) with a public and external presence.

Coupa Green: Helps drive environmental engagement and action in work and personal lives. Coupa Green is a group of employees around the globe who are passionate about the environment and want to help drive engagement and action in our workplace and personal lives.

HOW LEADERSHIP SUPPORTS COUPA EMPLOYEES 🤲🏿

At Coupa, we take a very philosophical approach to how we support employees and it all starts with our inverted organization structure. We flip our employee structure upside down, meaning employees are not managed - they are supported. This is core to our culture and everything we do to foster an entrepreneurial spirit among every single employee.

Our employee’s well-being comes first! Family, health and happiness are vital and supporting our employees in these areas is what Coupa culture is all about. Our leadership supports our employees in achieving their personal and professional goals while maintaining a work/life balance. We also offer our employees with a wide range of virtual on-demand fitness programs to promote regular physical fitness.

Coupa understands that broadly technology companies have failed to hire, develop and retain people from under-represented communities. So, as well as focusing specifically on finding amazing talent from these communities, we are also foster a learning culture where employees are empowered to drive their career progression and professional development. Our performance review philosophy is that 20% of the performance review focus on past performance and the remaining 80% on employee development.

Coupa's employees are supported rather than managed and, in that spirit, Coupa's leadership team fully embraces the idea that "none of us is as smart as All of us." We will continue to build relationships in our communities, for example with HBCUs to share job opportunities and attract candidates and supporting and partnering with nonprofit organizations that advance underrepresented people in the tech through our philanthropy and other impact initiatives.

In addition, our employees are heard through our ERG's regardless if they are in tech or not. Our ERG's are an open forum for all employees where they can feel safe, speak up and be heard with no judgement.

INTERVIEW PROCESS🧑🏾‍💻

All Interviews today are 100% remote to meet our candidates needs.

  1. Candidates will have an initial phone screen with our internal recruiters.
  2. From there, candidates will meet with the hiring manager, and team members to ensure we hire people the right folks for Coupa.

Depending on the role, interviews can take up to a week depending on schedules. Culture fit is big for us and we want to make sure our candidates subscribe to our core value.

We work to ensure, when interviewing a candidate, that the interview panel is diverse including interviewers from different regions, teams, levels, backgrounds and more. This helps to ensure more fair and equitable feedback on the candidate and speaks to the work we are doing to value diversity of opinion. We treat all candidate feedback equally, regardless of the interviewer’s level.

From the very beginning of an employee’s time at Coupa, we aim to be thoughtful in how we approach onboarding to focus on connection and culture, as well as practical job-related content.
